The book of 1 Chronicles presents a parallel record to the book of 2 Samuel discussed in an earlier article in this series. There are, however, differences in the emphasis and focus of the story. While the books of Samuel emphasize the leadership crises that led to the establishment of the Davidic dynasty, 1 Chronicles focuses on the legitimate position of leaders, both kings and religious leaders.
